Americans love to upgrade and “pimp their rides”. We customize everything from sound system to the engine. Some even put a 42 inch LCD TV in their cars. Though many think an auto GPS unit is an accessory to me it’s not. It’s as vital to a car as a spare tire and a jack.

An auto GPS will prevent you from getting lost as well as help you find the best route to where you are going. It’s a self paying investment. In less than a year, it will pay off itself from the savings from your gas use. It will also lessen your carbon footprint on our planet. It’s one way to help save the environment.

So how do you know which Garmin GPS device will be perfect for your needs? There are so many to choose from which makes it very difficult to decide. The Garmin Nuvi 250 and StreetPilot C340 are some of the most popular GPS devices around. The Nuvi 250 is famous for its simplicity. It doesn’t have those advanced features that most of us never use. So many buyers waste money on GPS systems that have features they will never use. So if you’re not that particular type in terms of added features, then the Garmin Nuvi 250 will be the perfect match for you.

The Garmin StreetPilot C340 on the other hand has a big advantage over the Nuvi in terms of added features. One of them is the text to speech directions wherein instead of GPS saying, turn right in 50 meters, it will say, turn right at Simmons Street. This feature helps a lot especially if you can’t look down at the device to confirm the street name. Other features the Nuvi 250 doesn’t have are Bluetooth, MP3 player, FM transmitter and widescreen.
